i recently bought a iphone 3gs already had a smartphone with unlimite data plan?

i called customer service after noticing on my first bill that i was under the $25 2g plan and asked why i wasn't grandfathered in back to the unlimited data and the rep was ok i will do that for you then came back with oh starting in couple weeks AT &T is doing away with all unlimited data plans altogether weather you had on from before or not. has anyone heard about this
