credit card...? I don't even have the card any longer but I'm told I owe $1300 (the settlement amount). I run a call centre so I figured I'd have some fun with this lady and she got pissed and hung-up on me. During the conversation she mentioned NCO would garnish my wages which made me laugh and I replied NCO didn't have the 'stroke' to pull that off. I didn't say that I wouldn't pay the debt but she ended by saying NCO is ready to move on this file...made me laugh again of course. Here's the thing...I moved and didn't update my address with the old credit card company...she asked if I lived at my old address and I said 'yes'...she asked me where I worked and I told that was irrelevant. This cow went on & on telling me they'll find where I work and take action that way.
So in trying not to sound naive, what happens next? In my experience only the Feds go the garnishment route because of huge tax debts or something else government related. From what I've been reading, NCO bought that debt from the credit card company and are trying to collect for themselves. My credit was butchered years ago but I still managed to finance a nice car so their threats mean little to me.
What to do?
