Hi all ... I really dislike the menu icons on my unlocked k800i. SE tell me that they will change with different themes but they don't. I think it's odd that such a great phone is let down by it's immature looking icons and that it seems impossible to change them.

Anyone any ideas ?

many thanks Roger

You can do this via seam editing I think. But unless you already have the essencials ie: the right cable and experience, it's not really a worthwhile task as it can be frustrating and difficult to complete. But hey,, you got a cool phone, MP3 player and camera all in one and I can think of a fare few people who would quite happily settle for it in its current state (I know I would). And come on - they're just icons for crying out loud! :flush:

Yes Mastermind in broad terms you are totally correct but the icons do irritate the hell out of me and everything else about the phone is stunning ... it's an aesthetic thing with me ... I will, of course, live with it if I must. BTW do you stick to the same 'theme' ... what the hell it's only a background colour ... ! ... Good of you to take the time ... we all have different values. Regards Roger

Actually the theme can be more than a background colour. It can change the fonts, "tab" appearance, navigator icon, background animation etc... I know with my friends one, he somehow managed to even change the startup sound via changing the theme but there's so many possibilities I haven't got round to that one yet!

Just out of interest, is your phone "branded" to a network? My K750 is branded to Orange - hence the orange icons. I think if you get it "debranded" ie "unlocked", then that may solve your problem, as it would revert to the colourful Sony Ericsson made icons instead. Also try a firmware update - you never know...

Thanks yet again Mastermind ... no it's been debranded so they are SE's icons and I don't think there's a firmware up date for the K800i yet ... as ever good suggestions though.

Regards Roger
