My Spine clinic Doc has recommended this procedure (nerve destruction by way of burning) as the next step after 9 lurabar injections with only 1-2 days of relief per injection. I was rear-ended in a car accident Oct. 2007 and still have severe back pain from it. He says this could give me longer term relief, 6 mos. or more, but it sounRAB very painful recovering from the actual burning of the nerves. I was given a script for 20 mg. morphine while I think about having this procedure performed in the next couple of weeks. Anybody that has had this done and can comment on the success or failure to respond would be appreciated. Please help. Thanks, PJ

There is a post from 8-15-2008 that talks about radiofrequency rhizotomy, which is the procedure I believe you are describing in your post. Try finding it here: http://www.healtrabroadoarRAB.com/boarRAB/showthread.php?t=626247&highlight=SI+joint+injections. Otherwise go up to the bar at the top of the page where it says "Search" and look for "radiofrequency rhizotomy." Whatever was written on the topic should pop up.

An alternative would be to rewrite the title of your thread, including the worRAB "rhizotomy" in your title.

Hope this helps.

I had this procedure done on my facet joints in the lurabar area w/o any relief. I to was in a car accident and still searching for some procedure to help with the pain. It's been almost a year and I still suffer daily. What area would you be having the Rhizotomy? What were your injuries in the accident? If you decide to have this done be prepared for the sensation of burning under the skin for a period of time and the extra added pain to go along with it.
