I have 1994 Mercury COugar XR7 with a V8 engine. I recently had the check engine light come on and it said I had a misfire in cylinder 4. I took off the battery to reset the light and it hasn't come back on. But for a long time now, when I am idleing, the car will give me a shake when in drive and idleing. Every like 5 seconds it will repeat. I have heard it could be a TPS or Air Control Valve, or it could be the misfire, but if it was the misfire, why wouldn't the engine light come on and why would the car be doing this for so long without the light coming on? I have changed the spark plugs and checked the wires, nothing happened. I checked the fuel injectors and had them cleaned, nothing happened. I don't know what to do, but I would like to figure out this idleing problem. As well, there is problems when I am in higher RPMS and it seems to skip RPM's a little bit, but at a steady rate. Any advice?
