I really don't know how to write iconic compounds?

I'm in an extension science group and I feel like an idiot. I really don't understand. I get how if you have Na+ & OH- the charges cancel each other out, but once it gets complicated I don't understand.. I also don't know where to put the brackets..

For example:
Ca2+ OH- I don't get how to do it...
Or Fe3+ OH- ....

Please help!!!
