I really desperatly need help with writing a song, Please Help Xx?

put on some music and just fool with some diffrerent riffs and a song might come to you that helps me sometimes just dont do the same riff as the music...
 
Recently i've been asked to be in a few bands, and i am aware that they all write their own songs... so i need to get in the swing of writing my own if i am to join them. :D

Usually i can be creative and just randomly muck about on the guitar etc... and make up little riffs and stuff, but now when i do it, i cant seem to make a good one now... is there any tips i could be given to even start thinking of ideas or anything please.

The theme of the song would be like 80's rock like skid row or even some j-rock stuff ... Something along those lines... one of the bands are very into their japanese stuff (as am i).

Can anyone give me tips on how to start off the process of writing the music ( i can write tabs and music ) ... i don't want anyone Else's songs as i need my own idea's or else it wont be my original idea, i just need help or tips on getting started as i am having a creative blockage lol

Remember it is about Tunes and the music, not Lyrics... I'll worry about lyrics later hehe

i think the best thing to do is just get together with your bandmates
and collaborate together
you don't have to even write down the notes just play by heart and everything will fall together
 
I'll pick up my guitar and just randomly start picking one note somewhere in classic 4/4 time then once I've kind of zoned out from the repetition I'll toss another note into the pattern and so one. It may not be very orthodox, but it is fun and I find some cool things.

The other thing I do I find a chord I like (always love A7 for some reason) and build off of it.
