high what could the problem be? I was told the carburetors might be need a cleaning from the person I bought it from. Could this be true? And, should there be tubes hanging from the carburetors not connected to anywhere? Well, on the one side the tube is plugged up with a bolt. If the carbs do need a cleaning what would the best way be to do this? Is there and special cleaning fluid for Motorcycles? Could anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.

you know your answers already carbs has hoses that are plug a good sign its been rig and theres a problem with ok you should get a repair manual and or a owners manual might find a how to by typing like how to rebuild carburetter 85 Yamaha Maxim
how to rebulid motorcycle carburetter
how to adjust motorcycle carburetter

I would say the carbs need some work. It sounds like somebody didn't have a clue what they were doing when they tried working on it. Get a good manual for it. It would have all the information you seek to cure the problem without having to go to a shop. There is not a special cleaner for bikes. If you disassemble the carbs to clean them, use an automotive carburetor cleaning solution.
