I played PS3 @ Best Buy tonight

Impressions:

Load time is not as bad as I thought.

The controller felt GREAT (espectially with the new L2 and R2 which are more like triggers than buttons now). The controller did feel a bit light, though.

The graphics are truly and the gameplay was amazingly smooth and reactive. They really improved a lot of problems I have with some NBA games (including how most of the shot is luck. In this, there is a meter much like in soccer games that shows you how good your shot is based on how long you held the button down).

I was pretty set on getting a 360 when Christmas bundles come out but this almost makes me want to keep one of the two I'm getting on launch day.

The downside was that quitting a game is pretty . Luckily I've read a few reviews that told me how beforehand.

Damn it was impressive. Check your local BB to play it.
 
You have to hold that middle button to see the quit menu. It's a pretty deceiving process if you have no idea what's going on.
 
I played it last night too. Played motor storm. Fucking amazing. The media bar thing was amazing too. I can't believe how fast it loaded 1920x1080 pics and scrolled through them. Very impressed with the system so far, it has exceeded my expectations.
 
Saw it last night at Best Buy in Simi.

I wanted to Hate it, but it was good. The graphics were great.

I did notice people have the same issues with quitting games. I won't buy one, but I was impressed.
 
Motor Storm was awesome. The real-time terrain is pretty cool and the graphics are amazing. I didn't get a chance to control it using the motion sensitivity but those that did said it worked pretty good.
 
It's tempting, but don't do it. One thing I've learned with SCEA is all of their launch products suck.
PS1 - overheated
ps2 - Disc read error
psp - dead pixels, scratched screen
PS3 - ???
 
HAHAH i was playing ps3 at target last night. And it froze on me i was like wtf. But again mabye they had things going all day long. But i was playing that motorcyle game and shit frozze i was like man this shit is wack. The nba game looked very clean but the players did look rubber like.

Is the ps3 just all about making people money? Or do people really want it?
 
those are not the real systems you are playing. i went to best buy too and i wasn't expecting it, but there was a display with NOBODY playing so i immediatly jumped on the oppurtiunity to play it. it was amazing with the motion sensor controller and everything, but i asked some guy about it and he told me that they're just hollow cases with a computer operating it. the computer has the same hardware, but kind of dissapointing none the less. there are LED's in it to make it look like the real thing. oh well, i'll still be getting one, hopefully by the end of the year.

and i'm not an xbox troll making up storys...i'm going to get the ps3...i'm just saying it was sort of for them to decieve us like that.
 
i played it at target today. no one was around, well, one guy, but he was playing ps2

i played the offroad game. it was 720p, as the monitor kept flashing in the corner. from the time that i selected the game from the demo screen to actually playing it, it was about 3 minutes

graphics looked decent, but i noticed that when all the trucks were on the screen at once, it slowed down considerably, not to the point of being choppy, but almost like it was running in slowmo

as soon as i got ahead of everyone and only my truck was on the screen, it was much faster.
