I plan after high school, to go to school for either education or social work.?

If I were to go to school for elementary education, and I had taken all the required high school courses, would it benefit me go to to a college such as HCC or SanJac? Would it be better to go straight to a university?

How long does it take for an elementary educator to be able to work in Texas?
