My school doesnt let me register until they actually get the money, how long would it it take for the GM credit card to pay off the school??

At the time of transaction, your school got an authorization. By the end of the day, the school got their money. In one to two days this transaction will get posted to your dad's account. When posted to your dad's account, your dad owes it then.
