...transmission rebuilt? Me and my Aunt were driving cross country, with my van heavily loaded.Which I regret now. And my van was climbing a huge hill when i noticed my van's window was wet, just then the van's transmission started slowing up and smoke was coming from the hood. We pulled over and i popped the hood and noticed fluid all over the power steering cap and on the starter and the van was leaking fluid.. bad. We had it towed the rest of the way home (500 miles). The van still moves on its own, but the dipstick smells burnt. (So i move the van little as possible.)
I have a suspicion that the front seal went out.
Is it wise to have the seal replaced without rebuilding the transmission?
Would that be a cause for all the leaking? Could buildup of clutch material do that?
