I own a 2005 r1 yamaha and im having performance issues can anyone help?

Ok I own a 2005 r1 yamaha and im having poor low and medium performance, also the bike starting riding sluggish all of a sudden and im having trouble shifting up in a gears. The guy I bought it from said he never laid it down and he also got a tune up a month before I got it. Does anyone know what it could be and I what I should do to fix it
