I overheard my boyfriend discussing marriage with one of his best friends...?

We were meeting in the pub and my boyfriend got there before him - when I turned up I overheard a conversation he was having. He was giving his friend a hard time about whether he was going to marry his girlfriend or not - they've been going out for the same amount of time as we have. He was asking his friend if his friend's girlfriend was the one he wanted to grow old with and saying he should end it if she wasn't. Then his friend said well what about you and your girlfriend? Why don't you marry her? And he said, "yes, why don't I?" and said that his mum keeps telling him to make an honest woman of me. I don't know why, but the way he said it he was really questioning what the reason for not marrying me was...it worries me that in the context of the conversation he's questioning whether I'm the girl he wants to grow old with. I know we should talk but it's such a big conversation and if I don't say anything I think we will just carry on as we are - and we are both happy...

Is this just normal doubts that all men have?
