I need to write a project on an individual in history. If you were me, who would you...

...choose? My friend and I are working as partners on the project. We can think of individuals in history, but none that are really good. We can think of people like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Paul Revere, but we want our project to be unique. I'm sure at least 15 people in our grade will do a project on George Washington this year.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

For American history I would do Harriet Tubman, or Sacajawea.

For World history, I'd do Eleanor of Acquitaine (quite the medieval feminist), or Marie Curie.

If it's just American History how about the engineer responsible for the railroad connecting the east and west coasts. Sorry I can't remember his name off hand but it's an incredible story.

Robert Kennedy - a man of vision and integrity.
The best president you never had.

How about McCain? He is history LOL Seriously now, he has been around for 70 plus years and there is a lot of good stuff about him you can find. Check out his book, "Faith of my Fathers" for an interesting read.

Lydia chapin Taft

Heading the women's suffrage movement in 1756 or somewhere in there.

try doing one on a least popular president or an inventor that's not discussed in the history books. You can do one about a king or queen.
Or you can do a warrior or a pirate. Do one about a pro ball player from the past. or do one about a legendary singer or producer of music or movies or art like paintings or dancing or music.

I believe that you should do George Washington Goethels or Thomas Edison, but i think the first one would be better.

Mahatma Gandhi is incredibly inspirational and interesting
John F. Kennedy would be an obvious, but great choice.
One of interest to me would be J.R.R Tolkien
Jack Kerouac

I think you should do a project that nobody will touch, Benjamin Banneker. He lived at the same time that George Washington did and his influence remains today. Here are a few others that you may want to take a look at:

Arno Penzias
Robert Wilson
James Watson
Francis Crick
Geoffrey William Arnold Dummer
Jack St. Clair Kilby
Susan B. Anthony

I think I gave you enough ideas. You will have to do some research on the last few people that I gave you. You will have the best project. If you use Penzias through Kilby you will have easy visuals for your project too.
