I need to program a new key for my 2004 dodge durango. What exactly do I need to do?

If you do any research at all the 2004 and 2005 durangos are notorious for having bad keys, check it out. The dealer said they would charge me $150.00 for a new key then $40.00 to program it. I bought a key on Ebay for less than half of what they wanted, now I just need to get it programmed. I'm not real excited about paying the dealer to help fix a problem I feel is their responsibility. Please help.
