I took a job at a company where I was supposed to get paid every two weeks $2.13/ hr plus tips. The first two weeks I worked there went fine, but it went downhill from there.
The company is supposed to provide a paycheck every two weeks but has nothing but excuses for months on end till the empoloyees get paid. On top of that my last paycheck for 2.5 months was $0. They claimed that my wages are taken out of my tips, but tips and taxes are by no means enough to cover the paycheck. Many of their empoyees work over 60 hours a week without any paid overtime. They also employ illegal immigrants who they pay under the table to avoid paying taxes on the employees (they most likely get paid less than minimum wage). Also, the majority of their employees are not TABC certified or have their food handlers certificate. They also charge a mandatory percentage of total sales to be given to the kitchen staff, which includes back to the owners themselves, and the manager because the owner thinks it is a cheaper way to promote someone to the position than having the money come from his own pocket. I understand the concept of a tipout, as does most anyone who's worked in the service industry, but a tipout is for services provided (aka busboys, barbacks, bartenders) not for regular employees.
The company has done many many things wrong to its employees so if this doesn't make any sense ask me to clarify, I just need help getting my money back from my paycheck and getting the company to stop their wrong and illegal practices.
