I'm writing a book, in that book there is a device implanted into a person's chest, but to be implanted, a section of the ribs above the heart have to be removed. I need to know if it is conceivably possible to remove only a section of the rib without having the rest of the rib (the majority of it, the section removed would only be about an inch in length) attached to the sternum.
