I need to know the title of this book?

there is this book that i cant find ANYWHERE!!! ITS ABOUT THESE TWO KIDS WHO LIVE IN THIS OLD HOUSE THAt hates them. they find an egg in a room and they try to hatch it but the boy hides it in his sisters bed and when it hatches they cant find the animal inside it. somehow they see this poem and some of the lines are "three little bites and then your dead" they find the animal is this bug and when it bites you it leaves a mark like a "J". the girl gets two and the only way you can kill hem is with either tomato sauce or soda. im not sure which one cause i havent read this book in years i never got to finish it so if anyone knows the title of this book then please tell me.
