Automatic - there should be a yellow dip stick under the hood in the back towards the windshield on the back of the motor.
Manual - You will need to get under the car, look for a small plug(not the drain plug) and insert your finger into it to see how full it is. If you cannot feel anything, you will need to add gear lube, not transmission fluid.
