I need to know about baseballs for small children...?

I am teaching P.E. next year with a unit on baseball, and I need to know if there are alternatives to using a real baseball with a wooden bat. I don't want to use a whiffle ball and bat, so something in between. Thank a lot everyone for your input!

There are baseballs that are a lot softer. ask for safe/soft baseballs

Tennis balls with plastic bats would work perfectly. Regular Tee-balls could work, but you probably would have to upgrade the bat to wood or aluminum.

For young children use tennis balls and the plastic bats.
