i need to get out of the military?

If you're sworn in for the Army Reserves, can you get in trouble for not going to Basic?
I got sworn in, but I don't leave until July 15th and I don't want to go anymore... do u only get sworn in once in reserves and twice in active? or is it both ways?
i don't want to do it anymore because i was brainwashed. i thought it was something i wanted to do at the time and now i'm realizing after knowing my recruiter and everyone better, i don't want to be like them. i don't want to change. i just want to go back to college. i wanted to do it was for the money, but why should i give up everything i am for money? i thought i could do it, but now i don't think i can. it's not who i am.
 
tell them you suffer from mental illness, tell them you hear voices that tell you to shoot people. and the voices made you join the army. tell your recruiter you are scared you will shoot your comrades
 
You can still get out...but why would you want to?

Tell your recruiter ASAP if you really want to get out, you need to fill out a form or write up a letter for the reasons you are getting out and give it to them so they can send it to their chain of command. The process will be completed up to a month after you give the recruiter the letter.
 
If you have not shipped yet it is easy to get out. Tell your recruiter that you no longer feel you are military material. They may yell, threaten you, etc but they will discharge you from there. If you do not mind me asking what made you decide not to honor your commitment, to decide your word means nothing, and to just give up being part of something bigger than yourself?

Your initial swearing in is just for show. You're not really committed until basic. No matter what your recruiter tells you, you can get out before you ship.

I've gotta say though...I've not known many people that were "changed" by the military, and the ones that were saw intense combat. It's a long committment, but you'll still be who you are. You're not going to suddenly turn into a different person. I don't think you'll give up everything you are by any stretch.

If you want to email me, we could talk, but I don't feel like I'm any different than I was before I joined. Maybe a little more disciplined...but certainly not a completely different person.

Don't like to get out...there's no need. Don't try to tell them you're gay or you're crazy...at this point just tell them you don't want to do it...that's all you have to do. You may have to be persistant, but you don't need to make up an excuse.
