I am traveling from Palm Springs to Los Angeles but I can't seem to find local transit to get me to and from there. Greyhound and Amtrak is expensive. I am trying to use the Bus and Rail system to get around. Can anyone help?

Nobody believes us when we say that you need a car in SoCal.

Palm Springs is about 100 miles from downtown LA. Local transit is not designed to go that far. For such distances, you need REGIONAL transit, such as Greyhound and Amtrak. If those are too expensive for you, I would suggest you start walking now.

There MAY be a way to go from local transit agency to local transit agency, but I don't have the resources to look up the dozen or so agencies you will need to take to get from Palm Springs to LAX. I will give you this tip, however, to get you started: If you can get to San Bernardino or Riverside, you can take the Metrolink train (www.metrolinktrains.com).

Note; If you can't afford the $29 to go from Palm Springs to Union Station via Amtrak (or $26.40 for Greyhound), perhaps you should stay home. Transferring between all those local bus lines will probably cost that much. Heck, you'll spend that much in gas if you drive it.
