There are a lot of light-weight options.  You might even look to "trail-runners"  These are kind of like a sneaker but more durable for the rougher terrain of the trail.


I bought my last pair of mid-weight boots at Sierra Trading post.  I would start their.  Find a boot/shoe you like.  Look elsewhere on the web for reviews on the shoe and purchase accordingly.  You can probably get a good shoe here for about half of retail cost.


Don't buy anything that looks like a work boot (heavy) or that calls itself a technical boot (ice/snow climbing)
