i had this idea to make a miniature-ish sculpture recreating ida, the fossil. i wanted to make it out of paper mache or plaster of paris, but i was wondering how to make the actual STRUCTURE. like, the frame that i can build off of.
well the fossil you are speaking of... is flat..so a simple piece of clay could be rolled out to a 2 ft by 3 foot slab about and inch thick. then... take the picture in hand and start relieving the bones where they would be
btw.. clay would need to be placed on newspaper and on top of a plywood board so you can wrap it up and work on it when you have time
you wont be able to do it all in one sitting since the clay will be too wet to do any fine details. you will have to do the finer details as the clay stiffens a bit and starts to dry out ( leatherhard)
