i need the title and author to this book?

Ok, i read this book in the 8th grade. All I remember is that it was about this boy and his older brother on a road trip. I think they were trying to find rattle snakes. In one part the find a place that says they have baby rattlers and he gets bitten by one, but it turns out that they weren't rattle snakes. HELP ME, My MEMORY SUCKS SO MUCH!!
