I will try to make this as short as possible, but I really need some advice. SORRY SO LONG PLEASE HELP!
I have a great dane who is about 10 months now, when we first got him he went to professional training for socialization and then the next class which was more of ''advanced'' well that's what this place called it. In the first class he socialized, learned sit and down, all that. The next class ''advanced'' we did the same things over as we did in the first one, I kept telling my mom this is a waste of are time, i just felt it waste of money and they weren't good at what they did- she loved it thought it was doing so much for him. IT WASN'T. ( he does down, sit, stay all that just so u know)
So here we are today, he has chewed are furniture, every time we come home something is torn apart, hes gotten my shoes, my jacket and even my mothers nursing card. me and mom disagree on how to train him, she says no feeding him from the table, i don't ( sometimes i give in hes so damn cute haha) but she says in the living room you can because its more of relaxed area. I totally disagree if she says he shouldn't beg or get human food at the table, he shouldn't be allowed human food in any other rooms no?
This dog is my baby, we went walking and running every day in the summer, its hard to now because of the snow and ice- i think he is bored. I will not give up on him, hes like my child. My mom is so frustrated right now and i didn't like where she was going with the convo we had.. I will not get rid of him if he goes i go. im 20.
Thats the biggest problem, he chews everything we didnt crate him when he was a baby, we should have. Im on my way to go look at a pen right now
I don't know, what can i do to stop the chewing, hes such a joy and a great dog, we both love him very much and want to make this work. But it also gets old coming home to chewed things in the middle of the kitchen floor and the rugs in front of the sink. He lives in a very balanced home, i know it sounds like its not but it is. How can we fix this, we also have another dog who is 4 and is so well behaved.
sincerely, heartbroken
