I am 17 and 6'1 and I am thinking about buying a bike. Of course I would take the training and everything I don't want to hear that I am too young or w.e I just don't no too much about bikes yet cuz I just started looking at this so I need some recomendations from someone day rides
Also is it possible to get a used one for under $1000

Thanks

i would check into and older cruiser like a honda.. or the old kawasaki kz's..you could possibly get a bike for under $1000 but would probably need some work done on it.. so if your mechanically inclined you should be good.. you could also check on craigs list.. and no i think 17 is to young i would suggest taking the course it allows you to understand what your doing on a bike when your doing it.. and maybe ride with a few people in a small group to begin with.. and remember most people in cars don't see you... so get a bike, be careful and ride safe

I've had pretty much ever make Yamaha, honda, suzuki,etc....And yamaha is the ONLY that was given me no problems, highly suggest yamaha

try WWW.craigslist.COM and look in the motorcycles section

I was about your age when I got my first bike, and I didn't even take the MSF course (I think that's what it's called).Anyways, my first bike was a cruiser it was a Yamaha 500, and got bored with that quick, but I'm also some what of an adrenaline junkie and didn't care for the cruiser style. My advice, go to a motorcycle dealer sit on some bikes, get a feel for the size and weights of the bikes; cruiser, standard, sport; not the engine sizes. I'm assuming that you'll be taking the course before you buy if so they will have some 500's and 250's available for you to train on. And from there you will have a better understanding of what you might be looking for.

As for getting something for under 1000...probably not unless your looking at a possible salvaged tilte and or something that will need some work. Where I'm at the average price of a used bike is roughly 4-6k.
