I turn 16 in a month and a half and my parents were looking into some cars for me (Mid-sized SUV's essentially) and I was hoping I could get some input from people who have driven a variety of cars! and yes... I am a boy!
Anyway, for the record, all of these cars would be new if one was purchased. Just to eliminate confusion across different years and model changes... and the car would MOST LIKELY be near base with little-to-no options added.
Ford Edge
Nissan Rogue
Nissan Xterra
Toyota 4Runner (Exception to this one, this car would be an 08-09)

It you guys could please these following things into considering too..
1. I don't really care for "awesome" sound systems. So that isn't a selling point for me.
2. Good AWD/4WD...one that seems to outdo the other options I have specifically for SNOW.. That is a HUGE selling point for me. It COULD be the number 1 factor in which of the 4 cars I pick.
3. More overall "bang for your buck."
EX: "Toyota Camry for 20,000 comes with Navigation, where a Ford Fusion for 20,000 does not."
(not necessarily a true to life example, just conveying my point)
Other car suggestions are welcome, but they CAN NOT be made by the Chrysler Company (Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep) or General Motors. My parents will not allow it. They say that I will need to have it repaired too much. Which is a shame, because the Durango's a good value to me. Oh well.
Anyway... if you could also just tell me why you picked what you did, that would be great!
