i need some help with my 97 dodge ram?

Ok I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 with the 318 and when I'm driving normally 65mph the rpms will go up and down just a little bit I'm not even giving it any more gas then what I was and out of know where ill give it gas and git it up to around 3000 and it acts like its studdering and some time if I start it and start driving it will start to back fire and then ill give it more and then it takes off some one told me it could be the throttle sensor
