I need some help with cold sore medicine?

so Ive always gotten cold sores but theyve NEVER been painful. always just ugly. recently I got one in each corner of my mouth and its one of the most painful things Ive ever felt. I started taking lysine but I figure thats not gonna work automatically, but Ive been putting orajel medicated cold sore brush and herpecin cold sore lip balm on it. at first the orajel worked very well and helped numb it, but now it does pretty much nothing. they look better, but the pain keeps getting worse, and theyre cracked and oozing. at this point Im out of ideas. to anyone who has had really really painful cold sores, could you suggest anything to help with the pain? Im not even concerned about the appearance, I just want the pain gone. thanks so much
