I need newspaper article Ideas!!?!?

Well, I'm on the journalism staff and I was assigned to bring in three ideas for a story to write, but I can't really seam to find anything.

Does anyone know of any interesting current events? (If they could still have a chance of being current by the end of the month, its a bonus :D)
its just a regular school newspaper, I covered a the volleyball team last time, but I'm looking for more of an interesting story that doesn't have to do with locale events.
But I pretty much can't cover the war in general or any of the presidential race.
 
what beat do you write for?

im doing an opinions article: i had to change it around a little bit because i cant find this cbs interview but im doing the pros and cons of doing the army. dont steal it! haha.

movie, cd, tv show reviews?
check whats going on in your school. ask your friends they have ideas on this haha.
your sports school teams? how are they doing?
basically just go to any major site:
cnn, abc, nbc, rollingstone, rottentomatoes, csmonitor, etc. and youll be able to find anything. good luck!

also, news. the bailout plan/state of the economy will still be good for a while. where did the 700 billion come from? a compare/contrast of the presidential candidates and where they stand on certain issues, for people who dont know who to vote for.
 
it depends on the theme of the newspaper. i mean is it political, religious, sport ... etc and to whom it address, women, men, teens.

then we can suggest something
 
1.how the global crisis in the U.S. is effecting the World (especially Europe)
2.how the gaming console giants(Sony's PS3, Nintendo's Wii, and Microsoft's Xbox 360) are currently in a gaming "War" to outbuy each other and make themselves the dominant figure in the market right now.
3.Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) 'Champ' Kimbo Slice got knocked out in an overhyped bout. he is famous for beating up bums and crackheads on youtube.

1) It's an election year and most people don't know if they are a democrat or republican. Which are you?
2) Childhood obesity and soda machines in high school? Relation?
3) Rising cost of parking decals. (That made me soooo mad in college. Like, what am I renting a "chance" at a space?)
 
Well you could like servey people about loving twilight.. or there is an event... WAR but other than that war and other than that nothing really
