Every bike no matter how much it costs is subject to failure at some point even if new otherwise manufacturing companies would not have product recalls. Your best bet in cycling is this " you get what you pay for!" On that note, the more you spend generally the more you get but to counter that one too I have an Avalanche 1.0 GT that has around 13,000 miles on it since 06' and has been ridden to hell and back and was only $600, not alot of $ for what I have given the specs back then. I have current year models that have had minor problems and one XTR shifter that quit on me not long after I purchased it, go figure! Overall the money spent on the higher end bikes that I have purchased have been well worth it!
