well the next project for my 3D class has come about, and im really stuck on ideas.
Theme: This project explores the contrast between physical and nonphysical elements, and objects exterior and interior. the theme of this project is to explore the outside and the inside of a form to highlight the two opposite parts, draw attention by their mutual relationship, and create contrast. The other duality is the objects form and its function; a fitting analogy is someone's physical surface and their emotional core.
Structure:
"Your assignment is to explore the same conceptual ideas, as did Robert Morris. In this project you will create a wooden object, which insides and outsides is equally important. The inside and outside will juxtapose each other. Additionally your assignment is to create a performance/ritual that would symbolize (embody) this relationship.
Through the design and a connection system, you will have to bring the inside to the outside. Construct a connection system to open and reveal what is on the inside. In other words you will also have to create joints that will keep the object together and allow us to open and reveal what is on the inside."
Specs: You can use different kind of wood to add color to your piece, but cannot use MDF. you cannot use any paint, varnish or stain only natural sealants suck as oil or wax to protect and enhance the natural texture of the wood. you cannot use nails or screws to construct the object, only glue and wood joints. the pieces dimensions are at least 12x12x12 and no more than 36x36x36.
And if you actually read all this, i appreciate it. IM just really drawing blanks on what to do for the project. Any ideas will be helpful and very appreciative.
