...bicycle race.? 1) Roberto is competing in a bicycle race. He has traveled 12 mi and is maintaining a steady speed of 15 mi/h. Alexandra is competing in the same race but got a flat tire. She has traveled 8 mi and is maintaining a steady speed of 18 mi/h.
a) Write and graph a system of equations that could be used to model the situation.
b)How long will it take Alexandria to catch Roberto?
c) How many miles into the race will they be when they meet?
 
y=miles (dependent variable)
x= hours (independent variable)
=># of miles depends on the amount of time traveling

A) Alexandra: y=18x+8
Roberto: y=15x+12

NOTE:
slope is rise over run (miles PER hour)
y-intercept is how many miles they've already traveled

B) set the two equations equal to each other.
x-value will be your answer

C) I don't remember how to do this one
