i started driving my 99 solara from imperial beach to my house in oceanside. when i was going to get on the freeway it felt like the tranny started to slip. i pulled over and put in tranny fluid. it ran fine for about 5 min. and then i felt the slip again. once i got on the freeway the car ran fine. about a mile from my house the tranny gave out. i tried to step on the gas and the rpm's shot up but the car did not move. i turned it off and tried it again. the car finally moved. but the same thing happened five times before i made it to my house. can anybody give me an idea of what this problem could be. this is my only vehicle for my family and i have 2 kids, and my wife needs the car for work so a honest mechanically correct answer would really help out myself and my family. thank you
