well in the first book the mother leaves the kids in the car at the mall and never comes back so the girltravel with her brother and sister and goes to a aunts house first but the aunt wants to seperate them so she runs away and trys to go to a grandmothers house they never meet the grandmother dont want them but they stay around and do chores on her farm so she wont kick them out they find out the mom is on drugs and has alot of problems i know they made a movey out of it
