I need help with my Treo 600!!?

I inserted an SD card with music on it into my Treo 600. Head phones are too big to fit, and my head set ear buds fit, but the music still comes out of the big speaker. I tried switching it to the "silent" button, but all that did was make it, well, silent. What do I do? I'd really like to listen to my music in private!
