I need help with my phone, what does this mean?

well on my phone when i receive a text from this certain person it shows a red dot on the left side of their messages(in my inbox view), and when i open the message on top it always says " *HIGH* " so i ask, what does this mean? My phone is a chocolate(first one) and its Verizon.
no dumb answers please...
