I need help with my Motorola phone.?

Ok! When I plug my phone into the USB cord to connect to my computer to put a new song or pic on my phone, the computer DOES recognize it. When my mom, who has the exact same kind of phone, does the same thing, the computer does NOT recognize it and she can't put songs or pics on her phone.

Is there something wrong with my mom's phone? If there is, what is it?
