I have a 2002 Mazda Protegé 5, great car, I love it. But lately it has been having a very big problem. I can't seem to figure out the problem. When I start the engine, the engine idle fluctuates very vastly. It struggles for a few minutes until it rights itself and idles at a steady rate. Once in a while when it's fluctuating, it'll even make the engine stop and I'll have to restart it once or twice. Sometimes I even have to rev the engine just to make the tachometer needle stop bouncing. I'm thinking it might be the mass-air sensor. Because of the climate change, it seems to have trouble finding a rate to idle at so it jumps around. If it were my transmission fluid, which is a manual transmission, then I would have smelled the transmission fluid, but there is no leak and my transmission works fine.
