i need help with html on myspace? easy 10 points!?

ok so basically i'm fixing my page and i wanted to change the color of the font. i know how to do it or at least i think i do, but every time i put the html code in .. it doesn't work.. so if you could plese give me the code;that would be great!
 
its basicaly this :


<font color=" color here "> put words here </font>
