Hello. I am starting a new job on July 7th and will be moving to Port St Lucie from West Palm Beach. My current lease on my apartment is not up until next March but with a 60-day notice they will release me from the lease. I asked the leasing office if they get someone who wants to rent my apartment before those 60 days could they let me know so that I can get out of it earlier and they said no because of Fair Housing Laws. Is this true? Can they not do this? Do I have to keep my apartment for 60 more days even though someone wants to rent it? They said it's not fair to the other tenants who give a notice and live it out and that the Fair Housing Laws prevent them from renting it out before the 60 days. I cannot find this anywhere! Can someone help me find info on this whether it is saying yes they cannot or no they can rent it out beforehand? Please send me the source (website) also. Thank you so much!!
