I need help putting songs on a Motorola V9x, file not supported?

I understand how to drag and drop the files into the sd card file under my computer, but the phone will not play the songs. I have tried mp3, wma, and aac. I have created files and clips with less than 128kbps. The songs will show up in the phone but I get, "FILE NOT SUPPORTED BY PHONE DELETE?" What format do the songs need to be in to get them to work on the phone? I have mp3s that have been bluetoothed that play just fine.
