I wanna take long exposure shots using the nex 5.. The manual or tip told me to go to M(manual) shootin mode and set it to bulb.. I have completely no idea how to set it to bulb.. Can anyone help me

To shot stars in the night sky, you must make the shutter speed as low as minute long, keeping the shutter open.
Set the shutter speed to BULB ( I don't know how to set it) in the [M] mode (manual) so that the shutter open while you are holding the shutter down F8 or greater is recommended.
