I need help on the book The Metamorphosis!?

I'm reading the Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka in English.
At the end of the second chapter, the father throws apples at Gregor.
My teacher says that the apples relate to the story of Adam and Eve.
I don't understand how.
Does anyone know??
