I need help learning Cosmetology at home.?

I am planning on attending cosmetology school as soon as i have enough money saved up, that way i don't have to use a loan or borrow money to pay for school. While waiting to save up enough money i have become very anxious and impatient to start school, and i have decided to get a head start by studying at home and learning as much as i can on my own before i start school. I feel that this way i am not just waiting around to start and it may be an easier learning experience once i have started school, with my own studying and learning being done at home before hand. Here is my problem, I went to ebay to find a second hand Cosmetology Book and there are a BILLION of them! i have read reviews on a lot of them and majority say the books are for classroom purpose and that you would not understand or learn otherwise. I am looking for something that i can study and that can give me the basics of what will be covered in school without the hands on experience being necessary for the moment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before i buy a book that will cost me $50 + and may as well be written in Japanese since i am not in a hands on classroom with an instructor to do most of the teaching! Your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
