I need help finding books/authors?

I need finding an author and different books that I enjoy reading. I haven't read too many books because I've never had a lot of free time, but now I am a stay at home mom so I'd like some opinons on what other people enjoy. I don't like anything scary. I also don't want a huge book. I don't really enjoy sad books either. I rather have something fun and uplifting.
