I am thinking about buying a two toned green 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 1200 c. The bike appears to be in great condition with 5,500 miles on it. The bike comes with hard leather saddle bags and the security system. The dealer is holding firm at $7,300. Does this sound like a fair price? If I buy this bike it will be my first Harley and I don't want to start out wondering if I got taken.

That is a bit high for a 5 year old Sportster, but since it's a dealer you're going to pay more than if you get it from a private party. Either look at ones for sale from a private party or save up a little more and go for a Dyna model.

No, Sportsters are the worst riding bikes made. Get a used Dyna or SuperGlide instead, For about the same money you will get a ride ten times as good.

Don't know where you are but the numbers from kelley blue book show it in excellent condition for around $6700. Add in the bags and alarm you might be in the ballpark, but I would not go any higher than $7300 out the door.

That's an awful lot of money for a used bike with 50HP, that vibrates like a paint mixer and corners like a lumber truck. The harely craze ended with the collapse of the economy. There is one for sale on every street corner.

Harley dealers are used to the Rubes paying more than msrp for a bike and waiting in line to do it. Now that the bubble has popped they long for the old days, let them sit on it. I think you could do alot better buying used, out of style, costume butt jewelry from a private party.

I would not spend that much for a sportster. Like the guy above me said, for close to the same price, you can get a much bigger and better bike for your buck.
