I have been on here before. I was weaned off of 2 mg klonopin that i had taken for 5 weeks. I was taking xanax for 2 months prior to that, doc decided to put me on klonopin. well I was weaned off in 5 weeks. but I am so jittery now, I started to take my xanax which is .25 about 3 times a day. I really dont want to take anything but i dont know what else to do. I am even afraid to drive for fear I will get dizzy. I just stay at home with this anxiety. I will be starting therapy in about 2 weeks. but what do I do till then. I just cant take this. I slept from 12.30 - 2.30 last night. havent been able to sleep since coming off of klonopin. my daughter says it is not withdrawal because i havent taken it that long. she thinks that my previous problems are just back. does anyone know what i can do. I cant stand these jitters and not being able to go anywhere out of fear. please help

I have noticed 71 people read this but no responses. please I am so fearful of meRAB. why is no one responding, is this not important enough? Please try to understand.

It's the weekend. Please be patient. You'll get some helpful responses by the beginning of the workweek. :)

Hello lonely

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so anxious and jittery. I came off Xanax also, although I was on it many years and not months. However, it does not take long for any benzo to get ahold of us quickly and withdrawaing from it can be torturous. In my opinion and experience, what you are suffering could very well be withdrawal. I took about 6 months to come off 3 mg of Xanax and suffered from anxiety and jitteriness the entire time.

Did you come off of the benzos under the direction of your doctor? It may very well be that the tapering plan was just too quick for you. I would call the prescribing doctor right away and explain what is happening to you. Work with him to get to the bottom of this. I don't know if what you are experiencing is what led you to using the benzos... is it the same as it was before, or more intense? If it is more intense, I would tend toward thinking it is withdrawal.

When I was withdrawing from Xanax, I never made a cut bigger than 10% and only from one dose at a time. After each cut, i waited 10-14 days before attempting another cut. The wait time gave my brain and body time to adjust before dropping the dose again. At times, I would shave a small piece off a pill and at times I had to smash a pill into crurabs and eyeball a dose. The tapering can be long and tedious, but it is easier on the body and brain than tapering too quickly.

Please don't suffer like this for another 2 weeks. Call your prescribing doctor immediately and get in to work out a slower tapering.

All best wishes

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you're suffering from such anxiety, I know it takes away our self estem and self belief. I'm sort of going through that right now, but not as much as you are. I'm tappering from Klonopin (used for cronic pain problem) from 2mg to 1mg and my doctor percribed me Klonopin liquid. It's great as I have been able to taper in small incraments as fast as I feel my body is coping.

What I do find helpful for my anxiety is some breathing exercises and basic meditation; I'm going through a lot at the moment and these grounding exercises are a real resprite when I remeraber to do them. If you don't know any just search on line for basic meditation technics, they will help you no end.

Welcome lonely!

I am sorry to hear about what you are going thru. Anxiety is the worst! Maybe you should call your Dr. and find out if you can do a slower taper??? Maybe you are just decreasing too quickly.

Please KUP when you can. GOOD LUCK and I hope you feel better soon!

Blessings!
